2022 edition of the GirlGYMRight took place on the 21st-25th of September 2022, in the capital city of Bayelsa state.
Members of the Teens and Youth Connect-TYC in collaboration with the Face of Bayelsa Girl Child on Education. Ebizi B. Eradiri Esq. took out time to visit designated schools in the state to discuss with girls focusing on premarital sex, rape, teenage pregnancy, career choice, and skill development.
The hashtag #GirlGetYourMindRight was birthed from the resilience and tenacity of the founder and her love for educating the girl child in the society. Barr. Ebizi Eradiri who holds double first-class honors believes that children are gifts from God and as such, it is important for early childhood development of the young girls irrespective of their backgrounds, environments and religions.
She also urged parents and guardians to take the responsibility of creating the consciousness in the mind of the girl child that every person is unique in their way and should carry on with that self-confidence.
The #GirlGYMRight project exposes us to rape cases and child molestation in schools and homes of these young girls. There’s a need to create more awareness of these prevalent issues because developing the girl child will bolster logical thinking and the ability to make the right decisions in the long run.
TYC with the help of Ebizi Eradiri Esq. has created a platform that is changing the narrative that most people believe should work in a particular pattern; despite the loopholes in society, the initiative has provided a citadel of learning that eliminates environmental limitations for girls.
Notwithstanding, parents and guardians have pivotal roles to play in helping these adolescent girls to be conscious of the environment they’re growing up in; consequently, the aforementioned will help fight against sexual exploitation(rape), trauma, and peer pressure. Also, it will serve as a haven for the girls to thrive with the right knowledge of sex, the right career path, and the right skill.
Teens and Youth connect-TYC has impacted over 4,000 girls with the book titled, “I WISH I KNEW THIS BEFORE I WAS FOURTEEN” by Tekena Ikoko.
The intervention of the GirlGYMRight project will have a positive long-term effect on the future of the girls it has reached out to.
The #GirlGetYourMindRight will continue to teach kids in various schools, churches, and orphanages that society doesn’t define their ability to become great, but rather, it solely depends on the individual’s thirst to be more responsible and garner more knowledge and skill.
This is beautiful 😊
